For the Position of President-Elect
Amy Christensen has been supporting the educational aspirations of adult learners for more than a decade across different programs in higher education. Amy currently supports the successful transition of veterans into post-secondary education as the Director of Veterans Upward Bound at Idaho State University. As a first generation student herself, Amy is guided by a curious and persistent approach to post-secondary education, and enjoys being able to advocate with and for students at a variety of levels. Amy attained her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Idaho State University in 2010 and she is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC-S) and board certified supervisor in the state of Idaho.
For the Position of Secretary
John Myers has been working with SSS-TRIO at the University of Idaho since 2017. Prior to that he worked in mental health and with older adults. He has degrees in biology (BA, Oberlin College), creative writing (MFA, University of Montana), and social work (MSW, Arizona State University), and is passionate about equitable access to higher education. The position of IATP Secretary appeals to him because he enjoys organization and note-taking, and playing a part in helping TRIO programs throughout the state. This year he was a participant in NAEOP’s Emerging Leaders Institute. He has years of experience with different committees within and without higher education and would like to dip his toe into TRIO leadership at the state level.
